Firearms Training in Aurora, Colorado

Concealed carry permits, the state firearms safety course, and private instruction — taught in Aurora, Monday through Saturday.

Aurora is our second teaching location, and it is where a large share of our students come from. Same instructor, same class sizes, same certificate.

Aurora sits in three counties — and that decides which sheriff issues your permit

This trips up more Aurora residents than anything else about the permit process. Aurora is not in one county. The city spans three:

  • Arapahoe County — by far the largest share of the city, roughly 181 square miles
  • Adams County — the northern portion, roughly 48 square miles
  • Douglas County — a smaller southern portion, roughly 15 square miles

In Colorado your concealed handgun permit is issued by the sheriff of the county you live in — not the city. So two neighbors on opposite sides of an Aurora street can apply to different sheriffs, with different portals, different fees and different processing times.

Before you apply, find out which county your home address is actually in. If you are not certain, ask us in class — it comes up constantly and we are happy to point you at the right office.

Your training certificate is the part that does not change. Colorado instructors are verified by a single county and that verification is good statewide, so the certificate you leave our class with is accepted by any Colorado sheriff — Arapahoe, Adams, Douglas or anywhere else in the state.

Sheriff requirements differ by county and change over time. Confirm the current process with your own county sheriff before you apply.

Why people in Aurora train with us

We are training only — not a range, and we do not sell firearms. Nobody is steering you toward a purchase at the end of the class.

Groups stay small enough that you get real coaching instead of a lecture. Beginners are genuinely welcome; most people walking in have handled a firearm very little, and the class is built for that.
